As part of the third Thursday Program, the Bristol Historical Society will be presenting a program entitled “WBIS, Bristol’s Lost Icon” on Thursday, June 21 at 7:00 p.m.

Radio station WBIS, 1440 on your dial, became a true treasure within the community. This program will review the history, programming and other aspects of this lost Bristol gem, utilizing a twenty minute multi-media presentation. Give former announcers: Bog Douglass, Tom Monahan, Don Gordon, Pete Lis and Steve Savino will be present and share their experiences with the local station. A question and answer period will follow. The program is presented by Past President of the Bristol Historical Society, Tom Dickau.

Doors open at 6:30 pm at the air-conditional facility. BHS members are free, while the general public’s admission fee is $5. Light refreshments will be served.

The New England Carousel Museum is dedicated to the acquisition, restoration, and preservation of operating carousels and carousel memorabilia and the creation of new carousel material, for the education and pleasure of the general public. The museum is accepting submissions for the 1st Annual Juried Art Exhibit to be displayed during the months of September and November 2018. 40% of the proceeds from works sold during the exhibit will be used to aid the mission and preservation work of The New England Carousel Museum.
