Beach in the City

Beach in the City
July 15 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Spend the afternoon outdoors at our “beach” with sand toys building sandcastles at our gigantic, 22-ton sandy beach. Cool off with water play in our sprinklers, and take a ride down a water slide. The event features sand and shell art under the tent, and other fun activities. Don’t forget to bring your bathing suit, towels, sand buckets, beach chairs, and get ready for a fun day in the sun! On Wednesday, July 14th the Caribbean Vibe Steel Drum Band will be performing from 1-3pm. On Friday, July 16th meet Master Sand Sculptor Chuck Feld from Sand Ponders. Chuck will be at the beach working with everyone to design and construct creative sand castles.
Connecticut children age 18 and under plus one accompanying adult can visit participating museums free of charge through the Connecticut Summer at the Museum program. The program is part of Governor Lamont’s larger plan to use recovery funds to provide students and families with engaging summer enrichment and learning experiences in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Advance registration is required and available only at Eventbrite.
Parking is available in the public parking lot located next to the Board of Education building on Church Street across the street.
