Recently published local author RICK LABADIA will showcase his book What Can a Snowman Wear? in the Children’s Department at the Bristol Public Library on Monday, December 1, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. Mr. Labadia will read stories, talk about important reading tips, and autograph his book. Rick Labadia is a retired kindergarten teacher. His love of discovering how children learn and the world of art prompted him to write and illustrate his first alphabet book about snowmen and what they might wear. The bright illustrations and “next letter” mystery on each page should keep young children excited and guessing for more! He and his wife collect books and children’s book art and look forward to sharing them with their family and friends.
What Can A Snowman Wear? explores the unique concept about snowmen getting dressed up. It challenges young readers to stretch their imagination and creativity with the letters of the alphabet along with the many different kinds of clothing that they might use. By looking at each page, readers can guess what kind of clothes the snowmen are wearing and the mystery part of the picture can lead you to the next letter of the alphabet. From A to Z, there is always something enjoyable to read or see in this brightly colored book.
The event is free. Refreshments of snowman cookies and winter punch to be provided by the Friends of the Bristol Public Library. For more information, please call the Children’s Department at the Bristol Public Library 584-7787 ext. 2021.
