Water Department | On Monday, July 15, 2024, the Bristol Water and Sewer Department will continue our 2024 hydrant flushing season. The following areas may be affected: Boardman St, & Collins Rd (possibly affecting Mt. View to Mark St.)We will continue flushing this area until the next area is posted. We will flush hydrants on these streets and the adjacent areas starting at 7:00 a.m. and ending at 2:30 p.m., to allow customers to run their cold water until it runs clear. Low pressure and discolored water is to be expected during flushing and for short periods afterwards. We recommend you refrain from washing clothes during this period. You should run an outside faucet or the cold water in your bathtub until the water runs clear.



RT6 - Road Closure | Upcoming Railroad Crossing Safety Improvement Project On Route 6 In Bristol July 13-17. Note that the affected roads will be completely closed to vehicular traffic during the periods noted below:
Route 6 Closure
Saturday July 13 at 5 AM – Monday July 15 early/mid evening
Saturday July 13 – Route 6 full road closure to commence between 5AM and 6AM for removal of existing crossing, begin construction of replacement track.
Sunday July 14 – complete replacement of track, install rubber rail-seal, and prep site for paving. Monday July 15 – contractor begins paving Route 6 at 7 AM, will finish by mid-day. Crossing will remain closed until pavement is cool enough to re-open Route 6. Concurrently preparation work will begin for replacement of Maple St (not impacting vehicular or pedestrian traffic).
Maple Street Closure
Tuesday July 16 at 6 AM – Wednesday July 17 early/mid evening
Tuesday July 16 – with Route 6 re-opened Maple St will be closed at approximately 6 AM for replacement of track infrastructure.
Wednesday July 17 – complete track/rail-seal/prep, then contractor begins paving Maple Street mid-morning, and road will re-open early/mid evening once the pavement is sufficiently cooled.




Water Department | The Bristol Water and Sewer department hired flow assessment services to conduct sanitary sewer smoke testing which will start on July 15, 2024 and finish by July 26, 2024. for more information and to answer most of the common questions, please review our sanitary sewer smoke testing page, found within our customer relations tab.
